Star Trek – The Better Man
I’ve recently finished reading Star Trek – The Better Man by Howard Weinstein. I simply loved it. Its got intense mystery right from the start, you’ll really find it hard to put it down.
Its about a trip that the U.S.S. Enterprise has been assigned to a planet Nova Empyrea for diplomatic talks over removing an science station that was set up there 20 years ago. Nova Empyrea is a colony that was set up by humans who had left earth in the early days of the warp drive. The humans from Nova Empyrea or rather Empyreans used advanced genetic management techniques to help the human organism achieve a higher level of physical and intellectual quality. They had absolutely no interaction with the outside world before the federation had visited it to set up the science station 20 years ago to study the star system. Empyreans are against the treaty renewal and want the science station to be removed.
Also Mcoy learns that he has a daughter from a relationship he had during his previous visit. And his daughter Anna is not completely Empyrean and is likely to suffer grave consequences for the actions of her mother and this stranger she has never met.
As the story goes on it portrays how the federation officers Spock and Scotty work to save the science station and how Mcoy tries to save his daughter.
This book also explores the past of Mcoy and a must read for his fans. Its a very interesting book and will capture your mind with the twisting mystery right till you finish it.
